As a new member of the Country Chic Paint Blog Squad, I’m excited to show you my very first furniture makeover I’ve done with Country Chic Paint. If you follow me on Instagram, you might remember this adorable sewing table I picked up from Craigslist for just $10. I love the shape of it and knew it would look pretty awesome painted.
I removed the spring loaded shelf in the bottom since I don’t have the right kind of sewing machine to use in a fold away table like this. Then I removed the screws holding on the fake drawer fronts, but make sure to keep them in a safe place.
I wanted to just refinish the drawer fronts, leaving them unpainted wood, so I sanded away all the finish and smoothed them out.
Since there were so many scratches and dings in the table, especially in the legs, I used my random orbital sander with 120 grit discs to smooth out the whole surface.
Then the fun part, painting.
The top is painted with 2 coats of Vanilla Frosting All-in-One paint. Paint one coat first, letting it dry for a few hours before applying the second coat. I decided to do a bit of distressing on the top also. Since it had dried for a couple of days before I decided to do any distressing, I had to use some sandpaper.
If I had made the decision sooner, I could have used a damp cloth, like in the tutorials done by Country Chic Paint.
The base color is Cherry Blossom chalk paint, and again, I used 2 coats.
I’ll be using this as a sewing table, but just set my sewing machine right on top. I knew I wanted a nice durable finish, so I applied 2 coats of Tough Coat using a foam brush.
After sanding off the original finish from the fake drawer fronts, I stained them. The final step of the table was to reattach them to the front.
So what do you think? Do you have any pink furniture in your house?
Do you see one of the County Chic Paint Colors that you want me to use on a future project?
