A couple of summers ago I picked up 2 large shutters at a garage sale for $1.  I originally thought I might hang them on both sides of our tv (which is mounted on our brick fireplace, to maybe cover up the cords a bit)  But my husband hated that idea.  So they’ve been sitting in the garage all this time.  Of course I couldn’t get rid of them!

Remember all the washi organization ideas I collected last month?  I’ve been searching for a way to store my washi tape that lets me actually see what I’ve got, and have them be easily accessible.

I wanted the  colors of the tape to really stand out, so after cutting a shutter in half, I sprayed it with some chalkboard spray paint (it’s what I had on hand and it makes a great primer)  Then I painted the shutter white.  Each tape is hanging from a paper clip that I twisted open and bent out a little so they made hooks.

To make sure I could tell what the pattern of each tape actually looked like I tore a small strip to stick above each roll..

To keep if off the floor and out of the way I hung it on the wall next to my craft desk. I made sure to keep it back just a little from the cupboard door so that it has no trouble opening.

What do you think?  I think I need to get some purple 🙂

I love your idea!! I'm in the process of organizing my craft room. I'm the type that needs to see supplies or they won't get used. This is a great idea. Now I need to find a shutter!!
