With Mothers Day coming up this Sunday, I finally got around to making cards for my mom, mother-in-law and our grandmas.  I wish I could deliver all…or any…of them in person, but they’ll be sent off in the mail today instead.

I’ll give you a quick rundown of how I made them.

I inked the edges of the card with brown ink and glued on a piece of burlap (glue dots worked best)

To make the flowers I free-hand cut 4 scalloped circles out of book pages (a punch would work great, and I was too lazy to clean off my desk enough to use my big electronic cutter)  Then I folded each circle into quarters and glued them down onto a small circle of paper.  A sticky sparkle went in the middle.  I made 3 of these for each card, as you can see.

The “happy mothers day” font is Sketch Block and I printed it out on cream cardstock and added more brown ink around the edge.

The final touch is the strip of vellum “washi tape” across the top.  I cut a 1 inch by 4 inch strip of polka dotted vellum and ran it through my Xyron sticker maker.  Then I cut it in half to get two 1/2 inch strips and tore those to get the pieces I used on my cards.

I pretty much love how they turned out, and I can see a lot more vellum-washi in my future.
