I was so excited when Kelsey of Poofy Cheeks had the idea to do an ornament blog hop where we all use our cutting machine to make an awesome DIY ornament, and then show you how to make them too!

I wanted an ornament that I could stick a tealight into and make it glow on the tree. I found the Santa and sleigh image in Design Space and added the other shapes to turn it into a cutout that could be folded into a small box to hold the tealight. LINK to the Design Space FILE

Cut the file out of any color cardstock you want. I made a black and a red version.

Use your Cricut Explore Air (or new, faster Explore Air 2) to cut and score the file.

Remove the cut out from the mat and before folding, glue a small piece of tissue paper to cover the cut out design.

Trim the edges, then fold all the score lines and glue the box together.

Glue a piece of ribbon or string around the ornament so it can hang. Position it close to the front of box so it will stay in balance when it’s on the tree.Set a tealight in it, and enjoy your newest creation!

So, tell me what you think in a comment below, and then visit all my friends to see what they made too. Read this post on why I love my Cricut Explore Read this post with a Cricut Explore Air 2 Review
