Over the weekend I saw an adorable washi tape flower at the craft store. I figured out how to make my own version, and you can too!

make washi tape flower

You’ll need scissors, 3 patterns of washi tape, cardstock and a rhinestone or button for the center.

Cut or punch a 2 1/2 inch diameter circle of cardstock.

Tear 8 pieces of tape 3 inches long each
Tear 8 pieces of tape 2 inches long each
Tear 4 pieces of tape 1 1/2 inches long each

Fold each piece of tape over on itself, leaving a bit of sticky side exposed.  Cut the 4 shortest pieces in half and trim to a point.

Attach the longest pieces around the circle.  Then add the next longer pieces and finally the shortest, pointed pieces.  Add the gem or button to the center.

Try trimming the tape in different shapes too for different looks.

Then add them to cards, scrapbook pages or gifts wrap. What do you think?  If you make one of these, send me a picture or a link to your blog post and I’ll add them to my post here.  We’ll start a collection!
