Leather Necklace Tutorial | Crafting in the Rain

It’s time for another post for Craft Month! I have another group of talented ladies joining me today, and you can see each project on their blog today. Go visit the next section of letters in the series.

And now for mine. One of my favorite things about following trends is that it usually pushes me to try something I wouldn’t have otherwise. After seeing leather pop up in many decor and accessory ideas I picked up a bag of leather pieces from the craft store for about $6. Most of the pieces were a tan suede, but there were a couple of pieces of this pretty blue in there too.

Here’s what you’ll need to make one:
piece of leather or suede
10 split rings
(2) 8 inch pieces of chain
1 lobster clasp

Start by cutting the leather into two chevron/ arrow shape pieces.

Punch holes in the top and bottom corners of one, and the top corners of the other, like this. I used a small eyelet punch. You can use that if you have one, or tap a nail with a hammer to make holes in the leather.

Put a split ring in each hole, then use another to connect the two leather pieces in the middle.

Add one piece of chain to each side.

Each chain end then gets a split ring, and one side also gets the clasp.

Do you have any fun leather accessories like this? If not, National Craft Month is a great time to try something new 🙂
