So our kitchen has been in working order for some time now, but we hemmed and hawed over the backsplash, and were slow to order blinds for the window. But now the backsplash is up, the blinds are installed, and I’m ready to show you all the pictures.
As a refresher, here are the before shots.
Low ceiling, old cabinets, wood grain laminate counters
Mismatched appliances, microwave taking up valuable counterspace, treasure chest looking range hood
Broken blinds, window at counter level (and slopes a little) so water run into it–plus doesn’t open well, duct tape in the bottom corner trying to keep the steel wool stuffed in there to keep mice out (didn’t work)
Old sliding glass door, won’t open well because of dirt or swelling in the heat, lots of junk stuffed under the counter
Badly stained carpet, and all those cords!
Old heater (fan stopped blowing and dangerously heated the wall), old door to garage and casing (chewed by previous renters’ dogs)
And now everything is so much better!
Custom cabinets (painted white with brown glaze), granite counter (tropical brown), regular ceiling and recessed lights
Stainless steel appliances, over the range microwave
New sink and faucet, window plus granite windowsill, pendant light over sink, blinds, and look–no mouse hole! (the floor is all patched up underneath too)
Backsplash–nice neutral tile, but I really love the accent tiles we picked out
New sliding door, extra cabinet for storage, and look–6 new junk drawers! 🙂 Still need some curtains
Tile floor extended into family room, cords tamed slightly (I still have plans to cover them up more)
So, what do you think? What’s your favorite change?
