Kindergarten Lunches with Del Monte

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Del Monte, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #DelMonteBTS

We’re hanging onto the threads of summer over here. I know many of you have kids that have gone back already, but if you’re lucky like us and don’t start up until after Labor day, I hope you’re enjoying your last few days of sleeping in and playing outside all afternoon.

This fall marks a big milestone for our family as the youngest heads off to Kindergarten. I took the above picture when he was just a couple months old and he’d just learned how to smile. This is what I got 🙂 But look at that little face! I know he’s ready, and he’ll be fine (though he admits to being nervous) But who can blame him? Even after going to preschool, a full day away from home is a long time.

One thing that’s helped for sure is his excitement over his red backpack and SpiderMan lunch box. I also thought he’d like having a family picture to take with him to school. Plus he can point out his two older sisters who will also be attending the same elementary school with him.

I printed off this picture at Walmart that had been taken during the summer. We’re all looking at the camera, and smiling even! Then I just used some glue dots to attach it to the inside of his lunch box.

At select Walmart Super Stores you can get a free back to school print when you bring in a photo, and when you get it back you will also receive a $1 off coupon on the purchase of (2) Del Monte 4-pack Fruit Cups or (2) Fruit Burst Squeezers. Offer available  8/1 to 9/13 while supplies last.

I’ve also started thinking of ways to make sure our school routine stays pretty smooth. I’m honestly a little worried about how mornings will go with him because, well, he’s 5, and often tells me “Uh, Mom, I got distracted.” 🙂

These 5 things to do at night to make an easier morning should help us stay on track though.

1- Pick clothes for the next morning. This can eliminate wardrobe battles, and keep 10 pairs of pants from being tossed across the bedroom floor.
2- Find shoes. This is the time sucker that I hate the most in the mornings. Find them at night when everyone has a bit of patience!
3- Pack backpack (homework folder? library book?) So much better than scrambling on the way out the door.
4- Clean up 10 things in your room. It’s always easier to wake up to a clean room.
5- Start lunch (or make it completely) I still save sandwiches and slicing apples for the morning, but even if things like nuts and pretzels or Del Monte fruit can get packed and cut down on morning time.

So between trying to make sure are mornings go smoothly, then making sure we spend time together when he’s back home again in the afternoon, I’m sure we’re going to have a great year. What do you like to get done at night to make the mornings easier?
