I’m up this week in the Crafterbowl at Pinkapotamus!  This week’s challenge was clothespins.  Here’s what I made with mine.

First I took a bunch of them apart and dyed the wood parts in some black Rit dye on the stove.  This was left over from when I dyed canvas shoes for my girls to wear to a wedding last summer.  I can only imagine these would look really cool dyed in other colors too!

It only took a couple of minutes–the wood soaked up the dye right away.  I rinsed them in the sink and left them in the warm oven for a couple of hours (I’d just finished baking bread) to help them dry a little faster.

I layed the pins out on an old frame with the flat side down so the design of the frame would be textured. I used E-6000 to attach the pins to the frame.

I also took 5 of the clothespin springs and glued them down in a flower shape in the corner.

I think I’ll set this in my laundry space in the garage–fitting, yes?

I’d love if you take a sec to head on over to Pinkapotamus to see who I’m up against and cast your vote!
