As part of the Country Chic blog squad I received paint for this project.

Have you ever picked out something to paint just on a whim? Like you didn’t have a plan going into it, and didn’t even know you wanted to paint it? Sometimes I just like to wander through the thrift store to see what is begging to be painted that day. That’s how I found this jewelry box. It looked pretty boring just sitting there on the shelf. So of course I brought it home with me.

I used Country Chic chalk paint in the color Full Bloom to paint 3 coats on all the outside parts of the jewelry box. I think if I had sanded a bit I might have only needed 2 coats. Inside there is some felt lining, so naturally none of that got painted. The drawers came out and the knobs were easy to unscrew, so it wasn’t difficult.

Once the paint was completely dry I decided to glam it up a bit by adding some Pocket Watch gold cream around all the edges with a foam brush. It gives it such a pretty shimmer everywhere I brushed it on.

A little bit goes a long way. I think it would be fun to cover a whole piece with it some day! Do you like it with the gold on it or would you prefer it to have a regular distressing with the dark box showing through?

I gave the jewelry box to my daughter and she was pretty excited to have such a fancy place to keep her necklaces and earrings.
