Once upon a time there was a baby girl. Her aunt made her a pink blanket and her parents loved it because it was actually big enough to wrap up the baby when she went to sleep. When she was too big to need to be wrapped, she still slept with the blanket and kept it with her during the day, sometimes crawling across the room to it, burying her face in it and saying “mmmmm.”
The girl got bigger, and the blanket got smaller as it wore thin on the corners and edges and was hemmed into a smaller blanket. Eventually it even got sewn to another blanket, but that still couldn’t keep it from slowly disintegrating…(most of what you see here is the added blanket…the fraying bits on the edge are the original one)
I suggested to Emily that we make a new blanket, together, so that she could help pick out colors and she would have a new one to sleep with. This is what we came up with. This was my first real quilt, so I tried to keep it pretty simple.
I love what we picked for the backing, and she helped run the sewing machine some too.
What baby item do your kids still love?
