I’m sure you’ve noticed the stenciling trend is still going strong. Today I’ve got a couple of ideas for you to add to the growing supply of inspiration.
I know (at least for me) summer is a hard time to get projects done because the kids are all home from school and we’ve got fun things planned that we’re trying to do.
So I’m very grateful to Kathryn and Vanessa for joining me in this month’s theme! Click over to their blogs for more details on their projects.
Distressed Wall Art
I made this distressed wall art for my husband to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. “Feels Like Home” by Chantal Kreviazuk was our first dance song, so I thought the quote fit the occasion perfectly. This project gave me an opportunity to break in my new Martha Stewart heat tool and make my own stencils. So much fun!
I love sentimental decor, so this personalized sign is awesome.
I found an awesome stencil at Wal-Mart for about $2 a loooong time ago, so when I found out the material for this challenge was stencils I was so excited! I used acrylic paint and a sponge applicator and some plain white curtains and (what seemed like hours later) I was all done stenciling! I think they’re gorgeous! I love them! Thanks Steph for having me as a participant!!
This made such an impact–they look totally designer!
Painted Nightstand
Perhaps this is a bit of a stretch to call painters tape a “stencil” but it just goes to show you how easy it is, right? This nightstand started out a bland tan color and I painted it white with light blue stripes across the top. A bit of sanding and wax, and it turned into something lovely!
I hope you’ve been inspired to go find something to stencil. See you again at the end of September for another Make a Splash post. Be sure to email me if you want to participate!
And as a special bonus, here’s a little sneak peek of one of my projects that will appear in the first issue of CuttingEdge Magazine
Be sure to check out the Facebook page too–thanks, and have a great day!
