If you’re stressing about a long list of people you’d like to give a little gift to, maybe this will help! You certainly don’t have to spend a lot of money to come up with something fun and easy. For this cute little gift, you just dress up some packs of Extra gum. Perfect for the holidays because it’s sweet but sugar-free!
First I’ll show you the crafty way, and then the super-speedy way 🙂 …Because let’s face it, sometimes even crafty people need shortcuts!
I picked up some mint flavors (great for when you get caught under the mistletoe!) of Extra gum as I was checking out at Walmart the other day. Polar Ice, Spearmint (my favorite) and Peppermint.
Other supplies you’ll need:
Felt
Fabri-tac glue
Lace or trim
1–Print out the pattern and cut out the pieces. Cut the stocking piece from one color of felt, and cut the toe and heel pieces from another color. Click here to download the stocking pattern.
2–Glue down with some Fabri-tac (hot glue would also work, but it can show through the layers of your felt, and the Fabri-tac will be invisible.)
3–Cut a piece of trim (lace, pompoms, etc) to fit across the top of the stocking and glue it down. Or switch it up and use felt flowers or other embellishments. Be daring!
4–Create a loop from string, twine or ribbon and glue to the top corner of the stocking so it can hang.
5–Print the tag and write in teacher, friend, bus driver, etc. on the bottom line (or have your kids do it!) Mount it on a larger piece of cardstock if you want. Sign the tag on the back. Punch a hole in the top and tie a string through the tag and the loop on the stocking. Click here to download the tags.
6–Use one or two glue dots to stick the ornament onto the pack of gum, with the pack still visible so it looks like it’s poking up out of the stocking.
And as promised, the super-speedy way! Skip making the stocking ornament and just purchase an ornament while you’re picking up the gum! Print out the same tag, package everything together and you’re good to go! Who do you think you’ll #GiveExtraGum to this year?
