Happy Labor Day friends! Have you seen some of the tour through blogland posts that have been written to help us all get to know each other better? Today I’m up! I was invited by Amanda from Dwelling in Happiness. What’s awesome is that she lives in Oregon, so not too far from me!

So now I get to tell you a little about myself and answer some questions.
We’ve lived in this house almost 5 years and my favorite project we’ve done is our kitchen remodel. In the interest of disclosure, we did all of the demo work, but we paid to have it all put back together 🙂 We love the light cabinets and stainless appliances. We knocked down the drop ceiling had recessed lighting put in. The granite counters are awesome too, and the tile doesn’t show dirt easily, so that’s pretty great!
That was done 3 years ago, and everything’s still holding up great, including the cabinets. They have not been hard to keep clean, and really the appliances haven’t been either. I wipe them down with a stainless steel cleaner at least once a week to get rid of fingerprints.
I don’t have anything major at the moment, but always a handful of little things going on. On my I wait list are some vinyl projects, some organization for my son’s room (maybe under the bed rolling storage?) some Halloween things, and I would love to start thinking about Christmas gifts. I’ll start tackling all these once the kids start up school in a couple of days.
I think that a lot of my projects are experimental. I love trying new things, but that usually means I don’t start out knowing exactly how it will go. I love that sometimes my ideas go in a bit of a different direction as I’m working on them, but I end up loving the results! I also love to see what my kids can come up with.
Ever since I can remember I’ve been making something. When I was young I started with things like embroidery (and once stitched my design right to the pants I was wearing.) Then there were watercolor pencils, felt puppets, cross stitch, some sewing, and more. That need to create has stayed with me, and writing about it lets me share some of my ideas, plus most importantly, find other people who share my interests.
I don’t have one set way to do things, but often I create something out of a need…some way that I need to organize something, or make something prettier–yep, that’s a need! The hardest part about blogging for me is having to stop and take pictures of the process. I’d rather not have to take time for that, but I love you guys, so it’s the sacrifice I make 🙂
After I’ve finished my project I put together a write up for the blog post. I try to include the supplies and steps I took, including hints or tips I learned along the way.
