Support Long Cricut Mats

How about a $2 item that can help you with large mat projects?

If you have ever cut a project on a 24-inch mat, you have likely noticed that you need a lot of table or desk space for the mat to feed both behind the machine, and out in front of it, as it cuts.

It can be hard to find that much clear space (at least in my craft room!) PLUS, I keep my machine on a rolling cart, so there’s no support at all.

So I found a lovely trick that will only cost you a couple of dollars at a hardware store – or maybe you have one already.

A Yard Stick, or a Large Paint Stir Stick.

Place one end under the machine to secure it, and the mat will rest on it as it rolls in and out of the Cricut.

Hope this helps you on your next project!

Today’s Tip: Support Your Mats

  • Tuck a yard stick or large paint stick under your Cricut machine
  • The mat can then rest on it as it rolls in and out of the machine
