My friend Albion had the great idea to put together an ornament swap between some blogger friends, and I’m so glad I signed up! Time for Christmas crafting has been at a minimum this year, so it was great to have a specific reason to make something. Go visit my Instagram page to see the ornament I got from Laura.
I drew Melanie from It Happens in a Blink (click over to visit her blog!) I knew I wanted to make an ornament with this chunky rose gold glitter I had, so here’s what I came up with.
I created an SVG (get it at the bottom of the post if you want it) with her favorite Christmas song “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and cut it with black vinyl.
Maybe you’ve made glitter ornaments before – if not, you can follow the directions where I made glitter ball ornaments a few years ago.
Once the ornament was finished, I started applying the vinyl. I’ve found that the trick to making vinyl work on a round surface is to work in small sections, and then peel up the transfer tape and work on another section.
If you try to stick the whole thing down at once you’ll get wrinkles, and be unhappy. And I don’t want you to be unhappy.
Then this is the final result! Check out the rest of the ornaments in the swap, all made using a Cricut.
If you’re ever looking for more SVGs to use with your Cricut, check out my Etsy shop here
