We recently had a party for Emily’s birthday. We played Don’t Eat Pete while we waited for everyone to arrive and it was a big hit. In case you don’t know the game, here’s how it works:
Create a game board by making a grid and putting a different graphic in each square (could be kids or animals, whatever) and print it out or have it printed as an 8×10 picture (which is what I did)
Place an M&M (or other candy) on each square.
Pick one player to be “it.” They turn their back, or leave the room, and the rest of the players decide on one guy on the game card to call Pete.
The “it” person comes back and picks an M&M to eat. They get to keep eating candies until they reach for the one dubbed Pete, and everyone else yells, “Don’t Eat Pete!”
Their turn is over. Refill the board and pick someone else to be it.
Here’s what my board looked like. I can’t share the file with you since the images came from Lettering Delights–but you can purchase them or find several other options online for clip art.
Everyone had a lot of fun with it, and I think it’s time to pull the board out and play just with my kids 🙂
