I am a Cool Summer Color Palette, and makeup can be kinda tough for us.
If you’ve had your color season done, or have figured it out on your own with blog posts and images, what are you?
As a cool or true summer, I have very cool (bluish, sometimes pinkish – but never yellow) undertone. That means that any kind of contour or bronzer that might try to “warm me up” or give me a sunkist glow will actually give me a completely washed out look instead.
So I’ve struggled to find something that works when I want contour on my cheeks and forehead – but I finally found a contour highlight set I love!
I’ve also embraced the rose, plum and grey-taupe colors and gotten rid of anything that looks coral, brown or golden for eyeshadows and lips.
I’m sharing my favorite cool summer palette makeup purchases from Amazon so that maybe it will help any fellow summers out there who are struggling with makeup colors.
So here’s what I’ve listed above – feel free to order from amazon, or some things you could check out at an Ulta or drug store to see how you like the color in real life or maybe even sample it.
Makeup for True Summer Palette
- Plum Eyeshadow – Swedish Eye Makeup (Color: Brown/ Purple/ Pink)
- Cool Taupe Eyeshadow – Amy’s Diary – (Style 08#)
- Gray Eyeliner – Maybelline – (Intense Charcoal)
- Highlight and Contour set – Mineral Cream Contour Stick (Fair / Light – 20 & 25)
- Tubing Mascara – No 7 – (Black – I think this is the only color, but it isn’t too harsh for me and it’s my favorite tubing formula I’ve tried)
- Blush Stick – Julep – (Mauve)
- Liquid Blush – e.l.f – (Berry Well) This stuff is HYPER pigmented. I just need the tiniest bit on a brush to pink up my cheeks. Works well on lips too – again <tiny> amount
- Plumping Lip Gloss – Buxom – (Sugar) They do have a lot of other cool undertone colors if you want to try something else. This is nice and neutral, goes well over a lip stain, and is kinda minty, but not a painful tingle like some plumping glosses are.
Here’s an example of me wearing some of these cool makeup examples, along with a navy shirt that fits squarely in my color palette for clothes.
You’ll notice I didn’t list any foundations – I don’t know that I’ve found a favorite or perfect one yet – you can play around with brands, and CC creams and whatever to match the shade of your skin. Just make sure it has no yellow-ness to it. It will not “warm you up.” 🙂
Let me know if you have any recommendations or favorites if you are also in the Summer Color Palette!
