Happy New Year everybody! Are you just waking up? Did you turn in early (like us) because who wants to deal with too-tired kids who won’t sleep in? 🙂 We still get to be on vacation for a bit since school doesn’t start up until the 6th, but we’ve already busted out some homework, and I think un-decorating will happen soon too.
But look at this good-looking bunch I got to spend Christmas with!
Now that our fabulous holiday with family is done, it’s time to start looking ahead. Thanks to Ali Edwards, I have chosen “One Little Word” to represent the focus of the last few years.
Last year, my word was Aproveitar a Portuguese word meaning “to take advantage of” (in a good way 🙂 I tried to make the most of all the opportunities that crossed my path during the year, plus actually took a trip to Portugal with my husband!
In 2012 my word was Reclaim (get back on track) and in 2011 my word was Do (accomplish things instead of just filing away the ideas)
For 2014, my word is Strengthen. I chose it over strong/stronger because it’s an action word. I will have to work at it. It will be my focus in a few areas of my life and I’m really looking forward to how my year will evolve.

I’ve been regularly going to the gym since last June, and have tried adding some weight training in there, but haven’t been very committed to it or successful with with. I would really like to have a stronger, and therefore healthier body.

Solid routines of prayer and scripture study will be the foundation here, and I will also be keeping a gratitude journal, (dressed up by myself with pretty white vinyl)which will help me recognize more of the blessings in my life.

Most importantly with my husband and kids. I don’t have very specific goals here yet, but I’m thinking on it. Do you know of any good resources for specifics?
I’d love to year your word and reason, or if you blogged about it, go ahead and leave me a link. Happy New Year everyone!
