California Trip and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

This post brought to you in partnership with DriveShop and Mitsubishi. All opinions are my own.

Back in October I got a mini vacation and traveled to California to spend the weekend with my parents and siblings for my brother’s wedding in Newport Beach, CA.

We rented a house right by the beach, and I will always think it’s amazing to see the ocean from your window.

To help us get around to the wedding festivities and other fun stuff of the weekend, I had this Mitsubishi Outlander Sport to drive. It was the perfect car for our people and luggage!

On Friday we visited Balboa Island. The weather was perfect, as you’d expect, and we made sure to visit the famous banana stands.

My dad even ran into Elsa and had a lovely chat with her. My kids thought this picture was so cool.

We all loved the room in the Mitsubishi. There were times we had 5 adults all comfortably seated. Good thing too, because with siblings, spouses, and parents, there were 12 of us to get around places. The car has plenty of juice to get us right up to freeway speeds (which, admittedly, can be pretty slow sometimes in California) but we were lucky and had no problem with traffic.

The built in GPS had a lot of cool features with presets and memories, and I probably would have liked it a lot better if I’d had more time to learn how to use it. There was a dual map screen that I just didn’t know how to use right, so it got a little confusing sometimes. But the large screen also doubled as the backup camera, which was awesome.

Then Saturday it was wedding time! Here’s me and my mom just a photo I snapped with my phone. I can’t wait to see all the other pictures of our whole family. Did you know I’m the oldest of 6 kids? Three boys and three girls. Lots of fun times when we all get together, and fun to see us get married and have our family grow.

We just love his wife and we’re so excited to have her in our family now!

It was a wonderful trip, and at the end I was ready to get back to my own husband and kids. I made sure the pull back the shade on the sunroof on my drive back to the airport (don’t worry, this picture was taken while safely parked on the side of the road.)  I knew that rain had finally come back to Portland after our really warm and dry summer, so I was soaking it in.

Have you driven a Mitsubishi before? What’s your favorite thing about them?

Love the Outlander - I was just telling my son that it would make a great first car for him.
